excessive amounts of time spent in front of screens instead of in face-to-face engagement
with other children, caring adults, and the natural world.

National Institute for Play  The National Institute for Play is committed to bringing the
unrealized knowledge, practices and benefits of play into public life.

Voice of Play Promotes the benefits of children’s play and playgrounds and provides
information and resources to help us all improve the quality and quantity of children’s play

Playworks--Playworks is a national nonprofit organization that supports learning by
providing safe, healthy and inclusive play and physical activity to schools at recess and
throughout the entire school day.

Right to Play--Right To Play is the leading international humanitarian and development
organization using the transformative power of sport and play to build essential skills in
children and thereby drive social change in communities affected by war, poverty and
disease.

Head Start Body Start--At Head Start Body Start National Center for Physical
Development and Outdoor Play (HSBS), is dedicated to promoting physical activity, outdoor
play and healthy lifestyles for young children and their families. Their website is full of
resources and ideas to help you bring active play and meaningful movement to your Head
Start or early childhood program. Parents will also find activities and tools to inspire
creative, movement-based play and healthy food choices at home.

International Play Association--IPA is an international non-governmental organization
founded in 1961.It provides a forum for exchange and action across disciplines and across
sectors.  IPA’s purpose is to protect, preserve and promote the child’s right to play as a
fundamental human right. ~Article 31 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the
Child.

Recess is Fundamental--A website where parents, educators and community members
